For most people even Edinburgh is dull. Even Edinburgh, with all that is going on here. The same bars, the same old, bad house tunes. The same high street shops.
Walking home last night along Princes Street and George Street really rammed it home for me. The good people of Edinburgh are out to drink generic larger and ready to drink 'cocktails', and listen to the same generic hosue music we used to play on the radio in 1993 to 'kickstart your weekend' or somesuch.
Sure, there are independent retailers, great pubs, interesting bars, a flourishing music scene, and one day left of an amazing arts festival, but how many people experience all that richness?
